I honestly wish I could give negative stars. The behaviour we experienced was completely unprofessional and rude.
They first showed us a property on Chichester Street via a WhatsApp video call and, right after that, sent over the agreement and asked for a depositbefore we had even stepped foot in the property. We politely told them we wanted to see the place physically before committing. Its even mentioned in their advert that a video preview does not replace an actual viewing.
We made it clear we were ready to move forward and payjust needed a proper in-person visit. Instead of working with us, the agent abruptly hung up on me when I asked her to give me a minute and never called back. We kept following up the entire day asking for a time. Finally, around 5:30 PM, she agreed to a 6:00 PM viewing.
Its basic courtesy to give people at least an hours noticeespecially on a Friday evening. I rushed to get there and arrived around 6:21 PM, even taking a taxi to make it on time. But she had already called beforehand to say she wouldnt wait until 6:30 PM and had left.
This whole process felt like a game, not a professional letting experience. If they had taken our money, I might have thought it was a scam. Thankfully, we saw how they operate before signing anything.
Tip: Check their company profile on the government websiteits very telling. Id strongly advise others, especially foreigners looking for housing, to stay far away. It felt like they were just leeching off peoples urgency and trust.

Just vacated our home after 3 years. I cannot praise these guys enough. Unlike other agencies, the moment you call with an issue it's sorted. Nothing is ever too much. If I ever rented again I would only consider these guys as it's a family run, friendly, personable service. I'd also like to add UNLIKE every single other letting agent I have ever met they do not try and take your deposit with excuses of things that 'are damaged or broken'. Genuine people. Eastgates is not the company it portrays itself to be, please do not rent with them, or at least contact the tenants living in the house and ask them for an honest chat about the house, the services and the landlord. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. Most letting agents try to screw over students, please get informed on your rights!

Jo Cable is the best! Thanks to her and Eastgates Letting, I had a lovely experience of living in a perfect flat in Colchester last year. If you compare rents that offered by Eastgates Letting and other agencies in the same area, you can easily find that Eastgates Letting offers are cheaper. Besides, in my case, Jo did everything very fast and worked on any of my issues kindly in my favour. Thanks Jo!

My recent experience with Eastgates Lettings has been exceptional. The professional service they showed me throughout my short journey of finding a property has been so easy. I rang and enquired about a property I found on rightmove, I spoke to a lovely and pleasant lady called Jo. She has responded to my emails in a very prompt manner, always within a couple of hours.
Also keeping me updated with the proceedings. On Jo's advice I agreed to view two properties in the area I had advised I wanted, both at slightly different prices. I met Dave, who again is a very professional and pleasant individual with none of that fake stereotypical 'estate agent' rubbish. Was shown around the properties and after deciding I wanted to go ahead with one, I was advised of the necessary steps and checks to be made in a clear way. I submitted all the forms for the checks and they were completed and returned within hours on the very same day and the place was mine. What more could you want. 5/5

Update: If i could give 0 starts i would. DO NOT USE THIS LETTING AGENCY. They do not care about their clients in the slightest, they only care about filling their corporate pockets. My partner and I have been life in INHUMANE conditions for 5 months, the company could not care less and they're still charging us FULL RENT. While we're getting TOXIC water dripped on out dinner table every single day. Incredibly awful service.

We have signaled a ceiling dripping to them since we moved in, but absolutely nothing has been done. For more than two months. We have to eat around buckets which collect filthy water, while still being charged full rent. Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional service, please avoid at all costs

Excellent company. From the start JO has gone out of her way to help us. Chanel is always my first port of cal with maintenance issues etc and they always send someone the same day if they can. I have been a tenant of theirs for over a year and I would always go via them for a rental. Excellent, transparent company!
